Illumination Wines features the Carolina's best songwriters on the second Wednesday of the month. October's lineup includes Nancy Jones, Brenda Gambill & Gina Stewart of Doubting Thomas, and host PJ Brunson.
About the Songwriters
Nancy Jones is originally from Asheville NC but lived most of her adult life in Central California touring as a solo artist and with her band. She is an award-winning songwriter having won the John Lennon International Songwriting Competition, BAM (Bay Area Musician, San Francisco) Magazine’s “Women to Watch”, Monterey County’s ‘Damn Diva’s’ competition among others. Nancy’s music is a broad brushstroke of influences from folk, rock, metal, country, and international music, although, categorically, she is none of these things. Defying categorization, her music is live emotion chock full of stories that are true. Her music has a strong sense of place as geography is one of the wellsprings she draws inspiration from. She currently performs solo and with her band, Nancy Jones and the Search.
Brenda Gambill and Gina Stewart have been songwriting partners since 1986. Collaborating together as “JONESALEE,” the two have composed musical soundtracks and landscapes for Film, Television and Theatre, most notably as Artists in Residence for Asheville Creative Arts and as Musical Directors/Composers for City at Peace CLT and the Possibility Project. As members of the Doubting Thomas Band, Channeling Granny, The Flaming Haybelles, Volatile Baby and the Christy Snow Band, they have 9 full length CD's and countless compilations to their credit. They are currently working on a 10th CD entitled "Forever Changed’, due out this fall.
Rock Hill singer-songwriter PJ Brunson hosts the monthly showcase and performs full-time around the Carolinas and beyond. She is an award-winning songwriter having placed in national and regional competitions. Her latest EP, “The Other Side (Part 1)” was released August 1st and is available on most streaming platforms.
