Join Carolina songwriters PJ Brunson, Allen Hayes, & Steve Simpson for an evening of stories and songs from the heart. Bakhita Arts is a wonderfully intimate space to share an experience like this. Showtime is 6:00-7:30 PM. The event is free.
About the Songwriters:
PJ Brunson is a Rock Hill singer-songwriter with folk roots and an easy listening vibe. Her songs often center around the themes of life, love, and family. She performs full-time around the Carolinas and beyond. She also performs as half of the piano-violin duo “Ananda” with violinist Laurie Neal. The two perform original instrumentals they describe as Celtic-Classical-New Age fusion. For more info, visit https://pjbrunson.com.
Allen Hayes fell in love with the guitar at an early age. With the Beatles, John Denver, Jim Croce, and Don McLean as his role models, he began writing songs in high school. His approach to songwriting is eclectic and takes a slice-of-life approach to telling stories. His songs can be classified as folk, country and Americana, with a little jazz and blues thrown in. A lifelong resident of North Carolina, Allen has played at numerous venues from the coast to the mountains. He has performed with various folk bands such as The Wayfaring Strangers (Raleigh) and All Natural Ingredients (Asheville). These days Allen plays mostly solo, focusing his attention on the Charlotte area. Allen has a self-released CD called “Landfall”.
Steve Simpson has been writing songs as a hobby for 30 years, and performs them regularly at acoustic music venues in the Carolinas. In 2006 he released his first CD, "Better Late," in 2013 he released his second CD, "Dusty Lawn Chairs," and in 2021 he released his third CD, “The Creek.” Steve is the coordinator of Southern Songwriters Association.
