About the Songwriters

Nancy Jones is originally from Asheville, NC, but lived most of her adult life in Central California touring as a solo artist and with her band. Nancy is an award-winning songwriter. She won the John Lennon International Songwriting Competition, BAM (Bay Area Musician, San Francisco) Magazine’s “Women To Watch”, Monterey County’s ‘Damn Diva’s’ competition among others. Nancy’s music is a broad brushstroke of influences from folk, rock, metal, country, and international music, although, categorically, she is none of these things. Defying categorization, her music is live emotion chock full of stories that are true. Her music has a strong sense of place as geography is one of the wellsprings she draws inspiration from.

Steve Simpson has been writing songs as a hobby for 25 years and performs them regularly at acoustic music venues in the Carolinas. He has won numerous songwriting awards and competitions over the years. In 2006 he released his first CD, "Better Late," in 2013 he released his second CD, "Dusty Lawn Chairs," and in 2021 he released his third CD, “The Creek.” Steve is the coordinator of Southern Songwriters Association. His music website is www.stevesimpson-music.com.

Host PJ Brunson is a Rock Hill local who writes mainly country, folk, and Americana songs of love and life. She frequently performs around the Carolinas and beyond. She has placed in national and regional songwriting competitions and opened for the likes of Nanci Griffith and Lyle Lovett. PJ has released two original albums, the first, “Come Hell or High Water”, was co-written with Rock Hill’s Jim Brindle. She also performs as half of the new age piano & violin duo, Ananda, with violinist Laurie Neal. They have released two albums of original instrumentals and one Christmas CD.
